Over $1 Billion in EB-5 Investment Capital Repaid by Borrowers to 25 CMB PartnershipsSeptember 16, 2019

CMB Regional Centers (“CMB”) is pleased to announce the recent repayment of two of its EB-5 partnerships’ investment loans. The borrower of CMB Group 20 partnership has repaid the $33 million EB-5 loan, which was used to develop and construct a four industrial facilities in Dallas, TX. Additionally, the borrower of CMB Group 14 partnership repaid its full $35 million EB-5 loan, which was used to develop and construct a residential units in San Jose, CA. These repayments represent a new milestone for CMB having over $1 billion in EB-5 investment capital repaid by their borrowers to 25 separate partnerships.

“It is exciting to announce this recent milestone,” said Noreen Hogan, President of CMB. “CMB continues to work hard, to make sure we provide reliable EB-5 investments for anyone looking to immigrate to the United States through the EB-5 visa.”

It is important for anyone looking to move forward with EB-5 to conduct extensive due diligence on the projects and regional centers they are considering. Throughout the years there have been many failed projects that never started or finished construction, or the funds were used in a way that was not disclosed within the offering documents. The list of failed regional centers or regional centers that have defrauded their investors continues to grow. This is why asking the right questions while conducting due diligence is important for any prospective EB-5 investor.

CMB has a list of these questions on their website, under Questions to Ask All Regional Centers. CMB created this list of detailed questions not just for investors to ask other regional centers, but for all prospective investors to ask CMB too. CMB believes in complete transparency and is willing to answer any questions presented. The EB-5 visa program is likely the most important decision someone will make in their life. It is a big decision for a foreign investor to move to a new country often with their entire family.

When any EB-5 investor is looking to invest into an EB-5 offering, they are looking for success in 2 ways: achieving a permanent U.S. green card and a return of their capital investment.CMB has been able to help over 4,800 investors obtain an I-526 petition approval, which is the first step to obtaining a permanent U.S. green card. Of these 4,800 EB-5 investors, 2,736 have made it through the consulate interview or adjustment of status for the issuance of a condition permanent green card. The next step after the two year conditional residency period is the filing of the I-829 petition to remove the conditions on the green card, which CMB has helped 1,177 EB-5 investors achieve. Lastly, CMB has returned capital to nearly 1,000 investors once their partnership’s loan has been paid and they have made it through the required conditional permanent residency period. This is why looking for a trusted regional center with a proven track record of success is important. You want to make sure that the regional center will still be operating years in the future when it is time for you to file your I-829 petition and wrap up the partnership.
