(EB-5)
Purpose: Invest in a project that creates American jobs and receive permanent resident status for yourself and your immediate family.
Considerations: Permanent resident status in the US is the first step towards US citizenship. Receipt of residency depends on project’s eligibility and success with a minimum required investment as low as $800,000.

Exchange Visitor Visa
(J-1)
Purpose: Ideal for gaining practical experience while you explore job opportunities.
Considerations: Can be used for summer or longer study/travel, practical or management training programs offered by academic institutions or private employers. Some countries require their citizens to return home after program completion.

Student Visa
(F-1)
Purpose: Reserved for those coming to the US to study full-time at a qualifying college, university, or language program. Duration of stay tied to the school program.
Considerations: Employment may be limited during first academic year; additional time in U.S. after graduation may be approved for practical training related to academic field.

Employer-Sponsored Visa
(H-1B)
Purpose: Most popular U.S. work-authorized visa.
Considerations: Limited number of visas available; selection by lottery. Job must be “professional,” requiring at least a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, related to the job. Employer sponsorship and U.S. Department of Labor-approved wage required.
