CMB Tracking New Senate Activity on EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act
On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, CMB Regional Centers—through its political contacts in Washington D.C., received word that Senators Grassley (R-Iowa) and Leahy (D-Vermont) informed their respective caucuses that they plan to seek a unanimous consent vote on S. 831, the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act, this week using the “hotline” process.
CMB, as the leading EB-5 regional center, has consistently advocated for ethical reforms, investor protections, transparency, and accountability within the EB-5 industry, and has voiced its unwavering support of the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act. This development is welcomed as there is only a little more than one week remaining until the expiration of the EB-5 Regional Center Program on June 30th, 2021.
If the bill is passed by the Senate, it will then have to be passed by the House of Representatives, before going to the President to sign it into law. CMB will continue to communicate with Congressional staffers and EB-5 program stakeholders to remain up-to-date with the latest information.
